Question:
One side of my body is weaker than the other. How do I correct this?
Short Answer:
It is pretty common for individuals to have one side weaker/stronger than the other. A lot of times, we end up overcompensating to help offset this issue but the goal is to become as symmetrical as possible. Too much misalignment can lead to injury so one of the easiest things you can do is to work your weaker side slightly more, to get your body back to even.
Longer Answer:
A simple solution is to complete your scheduled workout as-is, using the same weight for both sides. We don't want to short-change the stronger side but we are also striving for correct alignment. So instead of pushing the stronger side, we will focus on improving the weaker side to catch-up.
After performing your intended workout session, add 1-2 sets of a couple additional UNILATERAL exercises (where you only work one side at-a-time). So let's take your legs for example. If your left leg is slightly weaker than your right, consider adding in some Bulgarian Split Squats and/or Single-leg Deadlifts to the left side only. Gradually over time your weaker side will catch-up, at which point it will be time to increase the weight for BOTH sides.
